The ride-sharing company Lyft will donate $1 million to the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) in response to President Donald Trump‘s executive order banning the entrance of refugees and travel from seven Muslim-majority countries. The announcement came in the form of an email sent to Lyft users by the company’s co-founders saying, ‘We know this directly impacts many of our community members, their families, and friends. We stand with you, and are donating $1,000,000 over the next four years to the ACLU to defend our constitution. We ask that continue to be there for each other- and together, continue proving the power of community.’ The ACLU is fighting Trump’s executive order, taking the matter to court and winning an injunction against deporting refugees already in the US or in transit with valid visas.
